Gold Tube Specimen Type / Requirements

Container Type = 1 Gold Top (SST)

Minimum Testing Volume = 2 ml serum

Tube must fill to at least ½ or greater of its vacuum capacity

Specimen Handling

Collection Instructions: Collect sample in gold top (SST) tube. Write your initials, date and time of collection on the collection label.

Use(s): To help diagnose autoimmune hepatitis and distinguish it from other causes of liver injury.

Special Instructions Specimen must be labelled properly. Sperate as soon as possible and send refrigrated.

Rejection Criteria: Grossly hemolyzed, lipemic, Unlabeled or Not Sufficient Quantity samples will be rejected. Avoid repeat freeze/Thaw cycles.

Stability: Stable refrigerated for 14 days 2-8°C and frozen at or below -20 °C for more than 14 days.

Transportation: Send sample to core lab as soon as possible.
