Telemedicine

Telemedicine is the use of videoconferencing technology to deliver patient care and professional medical education over a distance. Using live, two-way audio and video technology over secure networks, Telemedicine bridges the gaps between patients and physicians and teachers and students.

The Telemedicine program at St. Michael's was created in fall 2004, beginning with the delivery of education to remote sites. Clinical consultations began in spring 2005. Today, SMH Telemedicine enables physicians and nurse practitioners to see thousands of patients remotely each year. We make it possible for St. Michael's to champion the never-ending quest for a healthier world through our culture of caring and discovery.

Telemedicine facilities are available to health care professionals for clinical and educational purposes.

Our video conferencing services and equipment are also available to external clients for non-clinical purposes. Please fill out our request form or contact us for more information.
