Diabetes in Pregnancy Clinic

St Michael's Hospital offers a multidisciplinary approach to the management of diabetes in pregnancy. 

This includes the planning and coordination of care during pregnancy for:

  • Women with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) – diabetes that develops during pregnancy
  • Women with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes

Team members include:

  • Endocrinologists (Diabetes doctor)
  • Maternal Fetal Medicine specialists (doctor who cares for unborn babies whose mothers have diabetes)
  • Clinic nurse
  • Registered dietitian (diabetes educator)
  • Diabetes nurse educator
  • Social worker
  • Sonographer (ultrasound technician)

To access the Diabetes in Pregnancy Clinic, you need to be delivering your baby at St. Michael’s Hospital and you need a referral from your doctor or midwife.
